Kingfield Galvanizing can provide Hot Dip Galvanizing (HDG) for steel components in construction projects. Our automated facility lowers Zinc & Compounds emissions per tonne of steel galvanized by 86% compared to traditional galvanizing plants, reduces Hydrochloric Acid waste by 58% and reduces Gas usage, by 15.7%. Added to this, our design advice can deliver increased consistency and quality of HDG coatings; increasing the corrosion protection of your structure and reducing the time to first maintenance. Sustainability Outcomes

HDG provides the most effective form of corrosion protection for fabricated steel. The zinc coating forms a chemical bond with the steel, to become part of the physical structure and provides 3 levels of corrosion protection.

Economic benefits
Life Cycle costs of Hot Dip Galvanizing compared to paint over steel indicates that, based on the Corrosion Zone (C1-C5) and the type of paint used, the maintenance costs of paint can be up to 400% of the initial cost of the paint coating across the infrastructure lifecycle (Ecn-4).

Environmental benefits
Kingfield Galvanizing has invested in the most sustainable HDG plant in the Southern Hemisphere. Compared to Traditional Galvanizing plants Kingfield has a 62% reduction in VOCs, a 58% reduction in HCl waste, a 33% reduction in Sulphur Dioxide and a 53% reduction in Carbon Monoxide emissions. We have Green Tag certification and an EPD which can contribute to Mat-1 & 2 and Rso-6 & 7. Our sustainability credential, including our EMS may contribute to Spr-2, Pro-2 and Man-1. In addition, galvanized steel can be fully recycled at the end of its service life, compared to alternative materials, such as timber or concrete which may contribute towards Rso-1, Rso-5, Rso-6, Mat-1, Was-2 and Was-3.
