Victoria’s Big Build is overseen by the Major Transport Infrastructure Authority (MTIA).
MTIA works closely with the Department of Transport and Planning in planning, delivery and construction of major transport projects.
The Department of Transport and Planning and MTIA ensure major construction activities and disruptions are coordinated across the transport network, including plans to keep people moving through major works periods.
The MTIA was established on 1 January 2019 to oversee major transport projects in Victoria. It is made up of 5 project teams:
- Level Crossing Removal Project
- North East Link Project
- West Gate Tunnel Project
- Major Road Projects Victoria
- Rail Projects Victoria.
Director-General Corey Hannett leads the MTIA, with governance and strategic oversight by the Major Transport Infrastructure Board.
