The 21km Morley-Ellenbrook heavy passenger electric rail line will be a new rail line connecting into Public Transport Authority's existing network, aiming to give people living and working in Perth’s north-eastern suburbs more transport choice.
As Perth’s largest public transport project since the Mandurah Line, this project will support approximately 6,500 jobs and help shape vibrant new communities.
The Morley-Ellenbrook Line starts at Bayswater Station (not part of this rating) on the existing Midland Line, travels in the centre of Tonkin Highway (entering into and out of Tonkin Highway through the southern and northern dives [completed as part of the Tonkin Gap Rating – not in this projects scope]). The MEL then runs through land north of Marshall Road, along the western side of Drumpellier Drive (formerly New Lord Street) and ends in Ellenbrook, south of The Parkway.
5 new train stations will be built in Morley, Noranda, Malaga, Whiteman Park, and Ellenbrook (all Green Star certified 5 star Design), with future provision for a station at Bennett Springs, giving communities more transport choice. Each station will include dedicated bus interchange, drop off and ACROD bays, as well as large car parking facilities.
