Description:
Over the next 30 years, an extra 130,000 people are expected to call South Auckland home. To prepare for the future growth, the government has provided funding for three new railway stations between Papakura and Pukekohe.
The IS Rating applies to two of the three stations - Drury Central and Paerata.
Combined with the electrification of the line from Papakura to Pukekohe, these stations will make travelling by train more accessible and appealing to those living and working in the area.
To help connect with local residential areas, each of the stations will include a bus interchange, as well as walking and cycle paths. The stations are also being future proofed for a number of elements including space for additional rail tracks, longer platforms for nine car trains.
Rating Highlights
Category | Credit | Achievements/ Description |
Land Use | Lan-4 | The credit allowed the project to illustrate the change in flood levels before and after the construction were minimal for residential, commercial, industrial buildings, as well as the surrounding farmland.
The credit was beneficial for the project as it required the flooding assessment to consider the ongoing effects of Climate Change, including rainfall intensity based on the projections for the Representative Concentration Pathway (RCP) 8.5. If a Project was not accounting for the IPCC projections within its flood modelling, Projects can use the IS Credit as a driver for the flood modelling to consider climate change impacts under a high emissions scenario. |
