Today, on International Women in Engineering Day, we celebrate the women who are helping shape the future of infrastructure, sustainability and engineering across Australia, New Zealand and around the world.
Established in 2014 by the Women’s Engineering Society in the UK, International Women in Engineering Day shines a spotlight on the achievements of women in engineering while encouraging the next generation to see themselves in a profession that has the power to transform communities and improve lives.
As our sector tackles increasingly complex challenges, from climate resilience and decarbonisation to resource management, circular economy initiatives and the delivery of sustainable infrastructure, we need diverse perspectives at the table. Innovation thrives when different experiences, backgrounds and voices come together to solve problems and create better outcomes.
At ISC, we recognise the critical role women play across every stage of the infrastructure lifecycle. From planning and design through to construction, operations and sustainability leadership, women are helping drive the ideas, solutions and collaboration needed to create more resilient, inclusive and sustainable communities.
Today is an opportunity to celebrate the achievements of women across engineering and infrastructure, while also recognising the importance of continuing to build pathways that attract, support and empower future generations of female engineers.
