About

Holcim (New Zealand) is a leading construction materials supplier with a focus on providing sustainable solutions to our customers. This means we take a holistic approach to sustainability, including reducing embodied carbon and water consumption alongside taking a proactive role in advancing the circular economy and supporting biodiversity.

Ultracem™ Cement is a general-purpose Portland cement (Type GP), developed to exceed New Zealand’s NZS 3122:2009 specification for Portland and blended cements. Ultracem’s™ binding strength and outstanding consistency make it an ideal choice for a wide range of general-purpose concrete applications. In bagged form, Ultracem™ Cement also provides consistently good results for projects such as driveways, patios, paths, floors, foundations and footings. Ultracem™ Cement is sold in recyclable 25kg and 40kg paper bags and 1 tonne plastic bags.

The Ultracem™ Cement EPD include product lifecycle stages from the extraction of the raw materials through to the final product, also known as cradle to gate. Our EPD offers customers transparent and scientifically rigorous information on the lifecycle impacts associated with our products, allowing for better decision-making and improved sustainability outcomes. The use of products with EPDs is also rewarded through both ISCA’s Infrastructure Sustainability Scheme and GBCA’s Green Star framework.

Sustainability Outcomes

Materials use credits
Our Ultracem™ Cement may help achieve reductions in embodied carbon under Mat-1 (v1.2) and Rso-6 (v2.0). Our Ultracem™ Cement EPD is covered by an ISO14025:2006 and EN15804:2012+A1 compliant product-specific EPD. The EPD is a Type III environmental label with a Sustainability Factor of 0.75 under the Mat-2 (v1.2) and Rso-7 (v2.0) credits, therefore it may help our customers achieve at least Level 1 for these credits.

Achieve innovation credits
The Carbon Neutrality innovation challenge, IC-3 (v1.2) and IC-1 (v2.0), may count Ultracem™ Cement toward offsetting its residual carbon footprint. Lastly, improving on credit benchmarks for the resource use credits is another advantage that Ultracem™ Cement might offer.

Applicable Credits

IS v1.2 Inn-1 , Mat-1 , Mat-2
