Description
Brisbane City Council appointed Connect Brisbane, led by BESIX Watpac to design and construct the Kangaroo Point Bridge. Completed in 2024, the bridge provides an active transport connection between Brisbane CBD and Kangaroo Point making it easier to get to the city centre, Kangaroo Point and the surrounding suburbs.
The iconic bridge spans 460m across the Brisbane River, with a main span of 183m and is among the world’s longest asymmetric cable-stayed pedestrian bridges and Brisbane’s tallest, featuring a 95m mast with 32 stay cables.
The project also features shaded viewing platforms, lift access, landscaped landings and unique dining venues including a restaurant and bar on the bridge and a riverside café at the city landing.
The project was partially funded by the Australian Government.
An initial IS Design Rating of Excellent was achieved for the project in September 2024, and an As-Built Rating was achieved in February 2026.
