This is a bi-monthly supplier showcase hosted by the IS Council, with each edition featuring six unique suppliers.

Purified Recycled Water Discovery Centre Tour

Sydney Water has been providing world-class water services to Greater Sydney, the Blue Mountains and the Illawarra for 135 years, but with climate change and an increased demand on our services – we need to think about water differently.

Sydney Water is committed to investigating the use of purified recycled water as a future water source.

Sydney Water has constructed a Purified Recycled Water Demonstration plant. This facility, known as the PRW Discovery Centre, is located on an existing Sydney Water site at Quakers Hill.

It is the first facility of its kind in New South Wales. It demonstrates some of the treatment technology used to produce purified recycled water.

Sydney Water is offering free tours to learn about where our water comes from, the challenges we currently face in Greater Sydney and our vision for the future, including the role of PRW. Learn all about PRW and see the technology in action.

Join us for the Annual Infrastructure Sustainability Accredited Professionals’ (ISAP) Day, regarded by many as a key gathering on the Infrastructure Sustainability New Zealand calendar, to be held in Auckland in 2024. This immersive one-day event brings together industry professionals from across the sector.

The program will feature presentations on the most recent innovations and trends in sustainable infrastructure, provide opportunities to unearth challenges, share knowledge and conclude with networking refreshments and celebration event to celebrate projects who have completed an IS Rating.

O Mahurangi Penlink Site Tour

During the second half of the day and prior to the Certification Celebration, we will be taking a site tour of the O Mahurangi Penlink Project. This project is a new 7km highway on the north shore of Auckland. The new road will provide network resilience with an alternative route from the Whangaparāoa Peninsula to East Coast Road and State Highway 1.

During the site visit you will get an insight to a large project that is working across both green fields and among communities. You will also see a few of the project’s innovations including ‘duff’, a growing medium for landscaping and replanting that has changed our approach to vegetation and topsoil management, as well as our largest bridge – the first of its kind in Aotearoa New Zealand.

PLEASE NOTE: full PPE is required if you wish to attend the site tour, this includes:

• Wrist to ankle clothing

• Safety glasses

• Hard hat

• Only orange high visibility vest or shirt

• Steel capped lace up boots - not elastic sided

Only 12.9% of construction industry professionals are women. But did you know that the figure for infrastructure sustainability professionals is 55%? The ISC will hold an event at The Art Gallery of New South Wales to explore how sustainability careers can influence the current culture & diversity challenges that limit the number of female professionals entering and remaining in construction.

The event will share insights from ISC’s– Sustainability: A Career in Construction – report. Developed with the support of the NSW Government the report presents practical strategies for enhancing the adoption of sustainability skills and advancing diversity within the sector.
