The Sustainable Procurement Pathway, in collaboration with ConnellGriffin, equips infrastructure professionals with the knowledge and practical tools to embed sustainability into procurement decisions across the infrastructure lifecycle, moving from compliance-driven procurement to value-led strategic procurement.

Description

Designed for infrastructure and sustainability professionals, this course empowers participants to confidently embed sustainability into the Plan–Source–Manage lifecycle and turn high-level sustainability intent into measurable procurement action. 
Participants will gain clear insight into where procurement decisions have the greatest leverage on sustainability outcomes and develop practical, real‑world strategies to integrate sustainability into every stage of the procurement lifecycle. 
his practical program combines bite-sized learning, self-paced modules, a live expert-led masterclass, and a hands-on capstone project applying Sustainable Procurement principles to real-world scenarios. 

Learning objectives

By the end of the masterclass participants will be able to: 

  • Explain the strategic role of procurement in sustainable infrastructure delivery. 

  • Identify the key drivers and barriers. 

  • Distinguish between transactional and strategic procurement approaches. 

  • Recognise where procurement decisions have the greatest influence on sustainability outcomes.  

  •  Identify practical opportunities to embed sustainability into procurement lifecycle. 

  • Understand the role of frameworks and tools. 

  • Apply sustainable procurement principles to real infrastructure scenarios. 

  • Recognise emerging trends shaping the future of sustainable procurement.

Course structure

Once you register, you will have access to the full learning pathway. 

  • Microskill (6-8 min) - IS Learn 

  • A short video introducing why sustainable procurement matters, and prepare learners for theory. 

  • eLearning (20-30 min) - IS Learn 

  • A self-paced module to build foundational knowledge before the Masterclass. 

  • Masterclass (10:00 am - 2:00 pm AEST) - via Teams 

  • A live online session either on 21 May 2026 or 6 August 2026, featuring expert facilitation, knowledge sharing, practical case studies, and interactive discussions. 

  • Capstone Project  

  • An applied learning activity that enables participants to apply sustainable procurement principles to a real infrastructure scenario and receive personalised feedback from subject matter experts.  

  • All participants will commence one of the two Capstone Projects during the Masterclass, and those wishing to further deepen their skills can present their work to an SME panel and receive personalised feedback. 

  • Digital Credential  

  • A shareable digital credential recognising successful completion of the learning pathway.
