This Project by Cross River Rail Delivery Authority has registered for a As Built V 1.2 IS Rating.
Cross River Rail is a new 10.2 kilometre rail line from Dutton Park to Bowen Hills, which includes 5.9 kilometre twin tunnels under the Brisbane River and the CBD. The project will deliver four new underground stations at Boggo Road, Woolloongabba, Albert Street and Roma Street, and upgrades to Dutton Park and Exhibition stations. The Project also involves upgrades to existing surface stations between Fairfield and Salisbury, new surface tracks between Salisbury and Yeerongpilly, and stabling facilities at Mayne and Clapham Yard.
South East Queensland’s population is rising, putting transport network in the region under pressure. The current rail network is already nearing capacity and is constrained by a single river crossing and just four inner-city stations, causing the bottleneck that limits our ability to run more trains. The Cross River Rail project unlocks this bottleneck by delivering a second river crossing, allowing more trains to run more often and enabling a turn-up-and-go public transport system across the entire region. By integrating with roads and bus services the project enables a turn-up-and-go transport system for the whole of South East Queensland.
The project is being delivered through three major works packages. The three works packages are:
- Tunnel, Stations and Development (TSD);
- Rail, Integration and Systems (RIS); and
- European Train Control System (ETCS).
The TSD and RIS packages are required to obtain an ‘Excellent’ IS Design and As-Built rating.
