About

AFT®+ E-fibre 15/40 is an ultra-high tensile steel wire fibre produced from extracted steel cord from end-of-life tyres.

Sustainability Outcomes

Twincon fibres are sourced from end-of-life tyre cord. This product is usually transported to a third party steel mill as feed stock for new steel products. It is also often exported to overseas steel mill. By utilising the cord and refining and cleaning it into a useable construction material, with known performance, Twincon fibre is avoiding the sue of more energy being used to transport and re-melt the cord into a new material. Twincon fibre is also recyclable at the end of its life. For both of these reasons, the Twincon e-fibre offers a much more sustainable outcome than the traditional steel cord recycling path. Twincon e-fibre also reduct the embodied carbon of the steel fibre by 97% compared to virgin steel fibres.

Mat-1 (ISv1.2 Materials footprint measurement and reduction Twincon e-fibre is sourced from the recycling of end of life tyre chord, thereby creating a very low embodied carbon product that is saved from being re-melted in a furnace using a lot more energy.
Ene-1 (ISv1.2 Energy and carbon monitoring and reduction Twincon e-fibre concrete mix is much faster to place than traditional concrete with traditional steel reinforcement, since the reinforcement placement phase is deleted. Therefore, the energy to transport and place the fibre reinforced concrete is much less than for traditional reinforced concrete.

Ene-1 (ISv2.1) Energy Efficiency and Carbon Reductions Twincon e-fibre concrete mix is much faster to place than traditional concrete with traditional steel reinforcement, since the reinforcement placement phase is deleted. Therefore, the energy place the fibre reinforced concrete is much less than for traditional reinforced concrete.
