We offer an extensive range of precast products with Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) in Australia. Our products can be manufactured in different sizes according to our client’s needs. Humes’ culvert units are designed and manufactured to comply with AS 1597.1:2010 part 1 and AS1597.2:2013 part 2 with the added advantage of being able to be designed to RMS QA Specification, R16 Precast Reinforced Concrete Box Culverts.

We offer an extensive range of precast products with Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) in Australia. This EPD covers reinforced precast concrete box culverts and headwalls manufactured at our Tamworth facility for infrastructure applications. Our EPD offers customers transparent and scientifically rigorous information on the life cycle impacts associated with our products, allowing for better decision-making and improved sustainability outcomes. The use of products with EPDs is also rewarded through both ISCA’s Infrastructure Sustainability Scheme and GBCA’s Green Star framework.

Sustainability Outcomes

Materials use credits
The use of precast concrete solutions sees a reduction in material use wastage by using strict quality control and standardises production methods within a factory-controlled setting compared to traditional in situ concrete methodologies. Our precast concrete products can be supplied with up to 45% supplementary cementitious materials (SCMs) content. For concrete-intensive projects, depending on the project’s base case proposal, our products may contribute to achieving up to Level 3 in Mat-1 (v1.2) and Rso-6 (v2.0). Our products are covered by an ISO 14025 and EN 15804 compliant, product-specific EPD. The EPD is a Type III environmental label with a Sustainability Factor of 0.75 under the Mat-2 (v1.2) and Rso-7 (v2.0) credits, which may therefore help our customers to achieve up to at least Level 3 for these credits depending on the specifics of the project.

Achieve innovation credits
Our precast concrete covering headwalls and culvert may contribute to the “innovative technology or process” innovation credit for being an Australian first by having an EPD for precast concrete. Lastly, improving on credit benchmarks for the resource use credits is another advantage that Hume’s precast concrete may be able to assist with.
