NorthLink WA Procurement Commences

NorthLink WA Procurement Commences

The $1.1 billion NorthLink WA initiative has moved into the procurement phase, with Main Roads Western Australia advertising for Expressions of Interest for the delivery of the first works package. The $281M Tonkin Grade Separation and Reconstruction Project is funded 50/50 by the Commonwealth and State Governments and includes the grade separation of three intersections together with associated upgrading of a 5km section of Tonkin Highway, in the north east of the Perth Metropolitan area.

NorthLink WA has registered for an Infrastructure Sustainability Design Rating, and achieving the best possible sustainability outcomes has been highlighted in the Expressions of Interest document for the Tonkin Grade Separation Project ( download here ).

Main Roads WA is proposing a design and construct contract for the Tonkin Grade Separation works package and is considering an Incentivised Performance Framework to encourage the successful Contractor to achieve best practice in key areas, including sustainability.

Queanbeyan City Council – Sustainability Support Services

Queanbeyan City Council – Sustainability Support Services

QCC has commenced a project to replace the existing Queanbeyan STP in order to provide a level of service that:

  1. conforms to acceptable standards for the protection of public health and the environment
  2. addresses the concerns of relevant regulators
  3. provides a sustainable outcome in terms of QCC sustainability policy and targets

________________________________________________________________________________

QCC has committed to working with the Infrastructure Sustainability Council of Australia (ISCA) to pursue an Infrastructure Sustainability (IS) rating for the proposed new STP. The ISCA rating scheme provides a nationally consistent framework and terminology for defining sustainable infrastructure outcomes, and covers areas such as economics, governance and decision making, resource use, environmental emissions, land use, and stakeholder participation.

QCC intends that by implementing the ISCA sustainability framework it will be able to demonstrate (evidence) that project outcomes are an optimal balance between environmental needs, technical excellence, community benefit, and associated capital and operating costs.

To support this project, Queanbeyan City Council is seeking tenders from suitable companies for providing Sustainability Support Services. Please visit the council website for more information and for directions on downloading the tender documentation  www.qcc.nsw.gov.au/#tender
