The Metro Tunnel Project Showcase Video

The Metro Tunnel Project

Location: Melbourne | State: Victoria | Asset Type: Rail | CAPEX: $11 bn

Stakeholders:

Melbourne Metro Rail Authority (MMRA) is the Victorian Government body responsible for delivery of the Metro Tunnel. MMRA works closely with a number of stakeholders including Transport for Victoria, Public Transport Victoria, local councils, nearby universities, major hospitals, local businesses and schools.

John Holland is delivering the $324 million Early Works contract to prepare sites for major construction.

The Cross Yarra Partnership – a consortium led by Lendlease Engineering, John Holland, Bouygues Construction and Capella Capital – has been selected to build the Metro Tunnel and five new underground stations.

A consortium of CPB Contractors and Bombardier Transportation will deliver the $1 billion Rail Systems Alliance package of works which includes the first roll out of high capacity signalling and communications system on an existing rail network anywhere in Australia.

Description:

The Metro Tunnel Project will free up the City Loop, Melbourne’s biggest bottleneck, so more trains can run more often across Melbourne. New underground stations at Arden, Parkville, the northern edge of the CBD, the southern edge of the CBD and Domain, with the two new city stations directly connected to Flinders Street and Melbourne Central stations, will transform the way people move around Melbourne and improve access to key landmarks and destinations.

The $11 billion Metro Tunnel Project will transform the way people move around Melbourne, with ‘turn up and go’ rail services and improved access to key landmarks and destinations.

Construction is underway on the Metro Tunnel, Victoria’s biggest ever public transport project.

This video was filmed in February 2017 and reflects the Metro Tunnel Project at this point in time.
